Pre-treatment advice

Please read this before we arrive. It is the advice Queensland law asks us to give you before a pest treatment starts.

When this advice is given

We give you this advice by sending a link to this page with your booking confirmation or reminder. If neither has reached you by the day, your technician texts or emails you the link as they start, or shows you this page or hands you a paper copy before any treatment begins. The date it was given to you is the date of that message, or the day your technician showed it to you, and we keep a record of it. If you would like it on paper, ask us and your technician will bring a copy.

The products we use

Only pesticides approved by the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) may be used, and they are the only ones we use. They are applied by a licensed pest management technician, as their labels direct. After the treatment you will get our pest management advice (PMA), which lists each product used, where it went on and any precautions that go with it.

Before we arrive

  • Tell us beforehand about anyone at the property who has asthma, allergies or chemical sensitivities, anyone who is pregnant, and any babies or young children. We will talk you through any extra steps.
  • Tell us about pets, fish and birds. For an indoor treatment, cover fish tanks and turn off their air pumps, and move birds, pet bowls and bedding out of the rooms being treated.
  • Put away or cover food, dishes, cutlery, utensils and children’s toys in the kitchen and the areas being treated. Wash anything that was left out before it is used again.
  • Tell us if you have a rainwater tank, and keep its inlets and overflow covered. We do not treat around a tank or catchment area that is not sealed.
  • Clear access to the areas to be treated, such as skirting boards, under sinks and around the outside walls.

During and after the treatment

  • Keep people and pets out of treated areas, and off treated surfaces, until they are dry. Anyone who is sensitive should stay out until the rooms have been aired.
  • Air the rooms after an indoor treatment.
  • Do not touch, move or open bait stations, and keep children and pets away from them.
  • Follow any extra advice your technician gives you on the day. It depends on the products used, and it will also be in your PMA.

Warranties

General pest treatments come with a 12-month warranty: if pests return in that window, we come back and re-treat at no charge. Some pests like ants and rodents can have different terms, and we’ll always explain the cover before we start.

To claim, contact us within the warranty period on 0468 200 808 or at admin@razorpestcontrol.com.au, tell us what you are seeing, and let us back in to re-treat. Claims by post go to Razor Pest Control, 47 Drummond St, Rangeville QLD 4350. A return visit under the warranty costs you nothing; the only cost to you is getting in touch with us.

The benefits of our warranty are in addition to your other rights and remedies under the law in relation to our services.

Our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. For major failures with the service, you are entitled:

  • to cancel your service contract with us; and
  • to a refund for the unused portion, or to compensation for its reduced value.

You are also entitled to be compensated for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. If the failure does not amount to a major failure you are entitled to have problems with the service rectified in a reasonable time and, if this is not done, to cancel your contract and obtain a refund for the unused portion of the contract.

Limitations

  • A general pest treatment does not treat or protect against termites. We recommend a timber pest inspection at least every 12 months, as the Australian Standard AS 3660.2 recommends, and more often in high-risk areas.
  • Results are not instant. You will often notice a drop-off within days; some pests take a little longer as they move through the treated areas.
  • A treatment works as it should when the precautions above are followed.

Renting or managing a property?

If you manage the property for someone else, as a property manager or body corporate, please pass this advice on to the people living there before we arrive.
